Hammock slings provide full-body support in a reclined position, making them suitable for residents who cannot maintain an upright seated position, those requiring assisted bathing, or those with significant postural complexity. The hammock shape distributes body weight across the whole back, hips and legs rather than just under the thighs.

Typical uses

  • Assisted bathing — the most common use; resident is fully supported in a reclined position during bath transfers
  • Supine transfers — for residents who cannot tolerate a seated hoist position
  • Neurological and postural complex residents — spasticity, contractures or very low trunk tone
  • Bariatric residents — wider hammock options available with higher weight ratings

Hammock slings should be specified with OT input where the resident has complex postural needs. Call 03452 999 999 for advice.
